Last month I headed up north to Edinburgh for a mini holiday with a friend of mine who I’ve known since University. We were only there for two nights so the plan was to pack as much sightseeing in as possible. Today I’ve got some pictures from my trip to share, as I did after my Highlands adventure last year.
The main things I wanted to see were Edinburgh Castle, the Greyfriars Bobby statue and The Elephant House (known as one of the locations where J.K Rowling wrote Harry Potter).
On the first day there was a ghost theme. First stop was Edinburgh Dungeons. The actors were brilliant. My friend was branded a witch and we both had a lot of fun, although I wasn’t particularly scared. After that we went on a ghost tour called ‘Hidden and Haunted’ which took us under the city to some long abandoned vaults.
The second day was all about seeing the sights, despite the heavy rain! We spent a lot of time walking through the Princes Street Gardens (which feels like the beautiful green heart of the city) and also having a wander up and down the Royal Mile. We also got to check out the castle, go on an open top bus tour, and go to the National Museum of Edinburgh.
I should also mention that we stayed at the Premier Inn on Princes Street. It was great value for money, staff were really friendly and the breakfast room had a great view of the castle.
Below are a few of my holiday photos:
